Clay & Art Education, Post 2 of 3 - Collaboration

Collaboration (photo collage, ee)
A constant search in the development of my skills has lead me to many great resources. Pinterest is an obvious choice for someone working in the visual arts. If you explore my pins (erinceddy), you will see how helpful the platform is in the planning process of projects and lessons. Everything from differentiated instruction tips to clay vocabulary for a specific lesson can have a category.

Another wonderful resource that I recently found is by Jan Brown Checco. Community Clay: Planning, Organizing, and Constructing a Ceramic Public Art Piece with Students offers a breakdown of the important steps it takes to carry out a successful community project. I know I will be applying her knowledge to my future endeavors. Also, visit her website, www.brownchecco.com, to see more of the great work she does in the community-based art field.

Clay & Art Education, Post 1 of 3

Clay by Erin Eddy

Bubble Teapot, Erin Eddy, 2011

The arts have great potential to inspire individuals for the better. I have experienced the power of the arts as a teacher, an artist, and a student. We must value all opportunities to create and learn. I was able to develop my skills in ceramics through a studio course as a graduate student at Arcadia University. I invite you to view some of the pieces that came from my hard work.

Keep NJ Beautiflul - Pinelands Preservation Alliance

Movies Under the Stars at PPA
I attended an outdoor screening of the film DIRT! The Movie at the Pinelands Preservation Alliance. I loved watching it projected on a barn under the stars. I plan to get more involved with this organization in order to help keep New Jersey beautiful. Feel free to join me!

Visit this site for more information on the film or to host your own screening: http://www.thedirtmovie.org/screening-info/

In this clip from the film, Wangari Maathai tells how every individual should work towards positive change, even if it seems too small to make a real difference. She is an example of a “hummingbird” who bettered our world. She was founder of the Green Belt Movement and a Nobel Laureate. She also inspired over 20 million tree plantings across Africa.
